PRINUL 50

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of a landmark undersea research mission and underwater habitat.

The underwater habitat La Chalupa was the research vessel for PRINUL (Puerto Rico Inter-National Undersea Laboratory). The habitat began sea trials on Oct. 4th 1972 in Riviera Beach Florida, and was then shipped to Playa Ostiones in SW Puerto Rico to begin its first mission on Nov. 18th 1972. After completing 12 missions in Puerto Rico the habitat was transformed into Jules’ Undersea Lodge in 1986 and relocated to Key Largo, Florida where it has been serving diving enthusiasts and scientists alike for 36 years. The Guinness World Record for living underwater, 73 days 14 hours, was set inside Jules’.

Join us for a special dinner honoring PRINUL and the aquanauts who participated in missions in La Chalupa and Jules’ Undersea Lodge during its 50 year history! Dinner includes: appetizers, salad, seafood paella (chicken and vegetarian available), desserts, beverages, open wine & beer bar. Nov. 6th 5:30 to 8pm at MarineLab. Please order your tickets below.
